Zoo Negara

We finally made it to the KL Zoo this past week with our friends the Cannons. With a three and five year old in tow, its seems we've run the gamut of Asian zoos....from the best (Singapore), to one of the oldest (Chiang Mai) and to one of the worst (Bangalore), but I'm happy to report that Malaysia's was a pleasant surprise! Since KL was once true jungle, the zoo really does have an incredible backdrop. The kids loved it -- especially the giraffes and elephants -- and here are some pictures:



And just for the record, there was a "civet cat" exhibit at the zoo and we happened to see one in our backyard last week! They hang around residential areas here in KL and are quite common in Asia (sort of a raccoon/large cat mix). They are harmless---but weird!
