Elephant Sanctuary

Today we visited Kualah Gandah Elephant Sanctuary with my parents and the kids. It's a place dedicated to saving, relocating and caring for the endangered Malaysian elephants and allows serious hands-on interaction with the elephants there...we even got to ride one! Here are some pictures:

And on the way to the Sanctuary, our driver made an impromptu stop at Deerland, a small neighboring zoo, where we were able to hold a python and get our picture taken with a bear (only in Asia would they be so relaxed with caged, dangerous animals). It was a pretty cool day -- and required some pretty serious disinfecting when we returned home!

I don't think I would be as calm as you all seem to be! I cannot wait to hear all about these adventures!
