Weekend in the Highlands

This weekend we traveled to Cameron Highlands, a colonial hill station located in the mountains of north central Malaysia about 4 hours from Kuala Lumpur. We have always wanted to visit the tea plantations and vegetable fields that we've heard so much about; and despite the monsoon rains, we had a wonderful trip! The kids picked strawberries, we saw amazing views of their rolling tea plantations and for the first time in Malaysia, we were actually COLD!:) The weather hung around 65 degrees and it is easy to see why it was known as a 'haven for the homesick' during British colonial rule.

We traveled with David and Lynda Poon, who helped us navigate the narrow, winding roads up to Cameron. It was quite a trek, but definitely a memorable weekend -- I think we all have a new-found appreciation for a hot cup of tea!
