Yesterday, we had the chance to join our friends Mike and Lari Cannon at their neighbor's baby dedication/open house. It was quite a Malay experience and much more of an affair than we expected! The baby girl's father is part of the royal family of Malaysia, so she was adorned with the symbolic golden crescent necklace. It was an all-day affair, complete with a full Malay buffet (the beef rendang was delicious!), traditional Malay musicians (who treated us to a private serenade as we entered the party...see video below) and traditional hard boiled egg "fertility favors" for each guest. What a day!
